EX-CIISBOENEITE’S C ODD FORTUNE. PLANE- HITS' TREE-TOPS. An ex-Gisborneii:e, Air. Spencer Allen, son of Ah', mid Mrs. W. Alien, of Waimarie, Haiti, bad a very fortunate escape recently, when he was involved in an aeroplane- crash at Westport. Air. Alien,’who bag boon employee at Westport for some time, has recently become an enthusiastic airman and has been training for Ins pilot’s ticket. Ho was on a, practice fi'S lri; a week- ago when, through dirt getting into carburettor, it is believed, tho engine failed and the plane crashed into some tree tops. Mr. Allen was able, to extricate himself and walk away entirely uninjured.
