CAR-DRIVER KILLED
VEHICLE PLUNGES DOWN HILL NEAR WANGANUI.
WANGANUI, Jan. 22
Shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday a fivc-seater car driven by Waller Naughtou Grantham, aged 25, left the road a . mile and a-half on the Wanganui side of Kai Iwi and plunged down a hill. Mr. Grantham was thrown out and killed, the cause of his death being a broken neck. The owner of the car. Ah’. Stanley Joseph Ericksen, a Patea County Council surfaceman, residing at Moumahaki, was the only other occupant. He was thrown out, hut only slightly injured. Mr. Grantham, a former Flock House boy. was unemployoc. hut was to start as a shepherd to-morrow. It is understood that the only relative alive is his mother, living at Whitby. Hull. England.
