OBITUARY

MRS A. E. SOLVANDEr:

Sincere regret will be felt by a vary large circle of friends ap'd acquaintances at tbe death n D her residence, Cobden Street, on Saturday, Mter a long and painful illness, ot Mrs Ada Emily Solvander, wife of Mr Edward Solvander. Mrs Solvander was bom in Westmoreland, England, in 1872. and came out to New Zealand at an earlyage with her parents in the sailing vessel Rdckby Hall and settled an Christchurch. There she remained for seven years, when she moved to Gisobrne in 1890. Shortly after her arrival she married and both she and her husband have been here ever since Mrs Solvander, who was well known by her work as a maternity nurse, in which profession she gained much praise, was keenly interested during her life in hockey, and for some time was one of the vice-presidents of th--Poverty Bay Hockev Association. She

was also an energetic worker on the social committee of the KahutTa Bowling Club. The deceased is survived by her husband, a family of three married daughters. Mrs E. Eve s and Mrs G. Wood (Wellington,). Mrs R. McDonald (Rotorua), and a nephew Mr Oscar Solvander (Gisborne). A* whom the sympathy of their many friends will be extended. The interment- took place at Taruheru cemetery yesterday. MR -TAMES GRAY The death of Air, James Gray, a well-known resident of the Mata-woi district, occurred at C'ook Hospital on -Saturday morning. The deceased, who was only 47 years .of age. wa-s born in Dunedin, and served with the Australian forces in the Great War. The funeral took place at Taruheru cemetery Yesterday.
