Copyright) LONDON, Jan. 12. , Britain is in the grip of an influenza epidemic, which has been increasing in intensity since Christmas, though the cases are most of a mild type. Deaths in London and the larger towns of England, Scotland and ire. land during the past week totalled 681, compared with 303 the previous \veek( and 120 in Christmas 'week.. There are many milder cases everywhere.
