• On Tuesday night the homo of Airs. A: Currie. Russell' street, was tho ' sce'nF'Di organised by tbe members of the Baptist.-Church choir • and their friends in honour of Aliss Jean Currie, whose marriage to Air. Nolan Redstone takes place next week. The drawingroom looked very attractive with its artistic decorations of fuschia and bougainvillea, - and a very happy time was spent with mu sic,.- competitions and amusing games. The -cleverly-arraimed competitions proved highly diverting, and Aliss P. Itarkoss and Alessrs. H. ITodson.r and E. ILamblie, the respective winners, were each rewarded with a suitable giftDuring the evening the choir master, Mr. R. Kemp, on behalf of the members, presented Aliss Currie w'th a handsome black palm stand, and in an appropriate speech wished the prospective bride and bridegroom every happiness in the future. Air. Ilamblio also offered his felicitations Afr. Redstone, in replying on behalf of Aliss - Currie, expressed bis own appreciation of the good wishes extended to them both. A most picturesque and charming wedding was solemnised. at, St. Alary’s Chureb, Opotiki, when Winfred, second daughter of Air and Mrs T. IT. Hennessy was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to John David, eldestson of Air and ADs .J. O’Sullivan. Tbe church bad been beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride. The Bov. Father Brady officiated and Aliss Petty Parkinson presided a; tin* organ. The blade entered the clum-h on the arm of her father, who gave her away. She was ehnrmngK- froeked in powder blue georgette and lace. The fitting bodice of georgette was vandyked to a quaint yoke of lace, and a vandyked hem of lace gave fullness to the fitting ankle-lentgh gored skirt. The dainty sleeves were of lace to elbow-length, where the georgette foil in full folds to bo gathered to a fitting band ai, the wrist. She wore a- picture hat of blue lace crinoline, simply trimmed with satin ribbons and a matching posy, and matching_shoes of .satin. The;-pre-tty. bouquet was of pink clarkias, gladioli and maiden-hair fern, tied witli pink satin ribbons. AI is.s Irene Hennessy, sister of the bride, attended as bridesmaid and wore a dainty frock of shell pink crepe-de-chino. The ankle-length skirt was finished with two dainty frills around the hip-lino and the tight-fitting bodice bad a frilled collar and tiny sleeves. She wore a quaint Juliet; cap of matching tulle, outlined with rose-buds and her ■shoes were of pink satin. She carried a pretty bouquet of deep blue cornflowers and blue salvia, pink carnations and maiden-liar fern, tied with blue satin ribbons.

: Air E. Burrows, of Auckland attended tho bridegroom as best man. After the ceremony, a reception was held at the Farmers'’ Social Room, where tho many friends of the bride and bridegroom were entertained at a sumptuous breakfast. The tables were daintily decorated with sweet-peas and asparagus fern, and a huge white wedding-hell hung over the bridal table.

Airs Hennesy, mother of the bride received the .guests wearing a smart frock of navy-blue georgette and lace, relieved with scarlet. and scarlet bangkok straw bat. She carried a bouquet of thalictrum and red gladioli tied with mauve ribbons. Airs O’Sullivan, mother of the bridegroom, wore a charming frock of black flowered ninon with smart straw hat to tone. Her bouquet was of pink hollyhock, yellow gladioli, pink scabious and asparagus-fern ; tied with pink ribbons. • During the reception many congratulatory telegrams were read and 1 many toasts honoured. Air AD J. Cook contributed a vocal solo, “The Fishermen of England,’ and responded to an encore with “Rose of Tralee.” Alessrs J. Young and AD J. Cooke sang a 'vocal duet, “Paradise for Two,” and 'Mr J. Young responded' to nil e.ncore with “Mate of Aline.” Aliss Letty Parkinson acted as accompanist. Renner, on Wednesday afternoon, when Mary Frances, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Vaughan, of Bristol, England, was married to Henry Strawson, son of Mr. and Mrs. 0. Stuhbs, of Gisborne. The Rev. M. F. J. Usher officiated. The weather was all that could he desired for snick an occasion, and the beautiful garden was, as always of. a delight, wonderful jacaranda trees with mimosa-like foliage and lavenda -flowers, masses of hongaunvillia; and tiio verniillion - -red' of • poniegrantes forming a charming setting lor the wedding group.

The guests assembled on the tennis court and the ceremony was performed beneath an. arch picturesquely situated at om side of the croquet lawn. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr, Ellis Harvey, wore an elegant frock of delphinium blue lace and georgette designed to slender line and graceful movement.

The long panelled skirt was inset with georgeide frills cascading front the waist and the short close-fitting coatee of lace was finished with a shoulder' drape and softly flared cuffs of georgette. A tailored belt, clasped with a diamante buckle defined the natural waist line. Her hat of blue straw was ornamented with tiny pink flowers, and the exquisite bridal sheaf composed of blue delphiniums ancl pink roses tied with streamers of bib; tulle was the artistic work of Mrs. Renner. The bridesmaid, Miss Eleanor Winter wore a demure frock of salmon pink satin beanie made with a tight fitting bodice with baby puff sleeves and a vandyked yoke of the reverse of the material trimmed with tiny bows. The long gracefully flared sk>rf: was attached to a closely moulded hip yoke and finished with a stitched belt fastened with a brilliant buckle.

A picture hat'of pink straw and a pink and blue Victorian posy, made bv Mrs. Renner, completed the charming ensemble. Air . Claude Stubbs, brother of the bridegroom, carried out the duties of best man.

Following the ceremony a large number of guests were entertained ;i ' a charmingly arranged reception. a happy feature of the gathering being the presence of Miss Leipst, matron of Cook Hospital, and many nur-es, who had previously been associated with the bride in her work. Mrs. Ellis Harvey and Mrs. Re’Jner, received the gnosis, wtn then passed on to oflor their congi atulctious and good wishes in the k> ale and bridegorom.

A wonderful array of wedding gifts was displayed in the lounge, which was charmingly adorned with pastel tinted carnations and great bowl s of piiik and blue hydrangea.

The wedding breakfast was served in the .drawingroom, pink roses, heuchern, and blue delphiniumns carrying oat the colors of the bridal party, being used with artistic effect in the decoration of the table. The usual toasts wore honored, and the handsome wedding rake was cut and dispensed by the bride.

Later in the afternoon the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, midst showers of confetti, the bride travelling in a smartly tailored frock of nav.v blue red flecked wool maroeain with a plain navy bolero, and a a geraniumn red straw hat. Mrs. Stubbs mother of the bridegroom was wearing a hnnflsome frock of navy blue flocked maroeain relieved with ecru lace and a hat to match. Her bouquet in delicate shades of mauve was made hv Mrs. W. Dunlop. Airs. E. ITnrvey sister of the bride, wore an elegant frock of floral silk maroeain in shades of blue and lom,on .wiUt_a_-tua tching coatge-and. a bluestraw hat trimmed with lemon.

Mrs. 0. Cooper, sister of the bridegroom, chose a becoming ensemble of wine colored crepe do chine with beige trimmings and q hat to tone.
