Dominion is devoted to the Wairoa-Napicr road., the amount being £33,000 out of. a" total of £236,000. for the whole ofthe eighteen districts in New Zealand. The vote required is £3755 against XT0.316 voted and £11,034 spent .lastyear. liabilities amounting to £3146Included in the items are the following:— Gisborne-Whukatano, via Alotu (£2 for £1): Vote £4OO. 'Gisborne-Opotiki, via Waioeka (free £600; £2 for £l, £405): Vote£loos. . NO. 4 DISTRICT (GISROIINE). The proposed total expenditure is £22,395, with liabilities amounting to £1731. compared with £34,421" ‘spent last, year out of £58,205 voted. The items are as follows: Gisborne-Opotiki, via Motu (free £5-116, local authorities’ proportion recoverable; £2 for £l, £100): Liabilily £l6, vote £5516. Oisborne-Wairoa via Morere (free £250; £1 for £l. £1203): Liability £1053. vote £1453. Gisborne-Opotiki, via Coast (free, £13,174; local authorities’ proportion recoverable, £2 for £l, £117): Liability £Bl, vote £13.291. Cisborue-Wairoa, via Uangaroa (£1 for £1): Liability £436, vote £436. Matawai-Koranga (£2 for £1): Vote £IOO. Rotokautuku-Waiomatatini (£2 for£1): Liability £l-15, vote £399; Tvanakanaia (£2 for £]): Vote £SOO- - not specified (£1 for £1): Void £6OO. NO. 5 DISTRICT' (HAWKE’S BAY) The estimate required this year is £39,995, with liabilities totalling £3717. Last year the sum of £25,509 was voted, of which £l9-4-11 was expended. In 1931-32 £11,36-1 was expended on the Napier-Gisborne road (free, local authorities’ proportion recoverable), the vote being £7317. On March 31 this year there was a liability of £3192, and the vote asked is £33.000.
