WIFE CANNOT UNDERSTAND last MESSAGE. (U.P.A. by Elec. Tel. Copyright.) (Received Sept. 6, 9 p.m.) HOLLYWOOD, Sept. 6. Jen Harlow, the well-known film actress assured the police on Tuesday night that she knew of no reason why her husband, Paul Bern, of the riiotion picture executive, killed himself. “I simply cannot understand it.” officers quoted Jean Harlow as saying, adding that she did not understand a farewell message found near the body addressed to “Dearest dear,’’ declaring that suicide was ‘the only way to make good the frightful Wrong I have done you, and to wipe out my abject humiliation.” Officers said there was only one explanation of the death mystery and that was that Bern killed himself in one of the spells of melancholia to which his associates said he was subject.

J’.tul 'Born, the 42-year-old writer and motion picture studio executive) whose marriage to .Toan Harlow surprised Hollywood two months ago, was found shot dead on Monday in the couple’s secluded canyon home in Beverley Hills. .
