Tasmania won the toss and hatted. They made a good start, 82 being run up for the first wicket but, afterwards, the howlers obtained the mastery and all were out for 164. South Africa lost Mitchell for a/ single and Christy for nil, Ins first “duck” of the tour and twr were out for 4. Dalton, from the first ball from Nash, got an ugly hit on the jaw iand had to he assisted from the field. The third wicket fell at 7 and the fourth for 25.
