ARBITRATION COURT

HARASSING RESTRICTIONS MUST BE ALTERED BEEN RESPONSIBLE FOR, MUCH UNEMPLOYMENT STATEMENT BY PREMIER (Press Association* CHRISTCHURCH. Nov. 23. Interviewed to-day, Mr. Forbes said: “We have no - intention of altering; or removng any part of the Arbitration Act that is for the good of tho workers, but in the opinion of the Government the time has come when harassing rules and regulations of tho Act will in some measure have to be altered.“We have come to the time when the keeping down of unemployment is of greatest importance. There is no doubt that the restrictions of the Act have been responsible for much of our trouble. Mr Holland has said that the Coalition would do away with all awards and agreements, and that the laborer would bo lowered down to serfdom. It is intended merely to alter ■ the Arbitration Act insofar as it is absolutely necessary.”
