MAJESTIC THEATRE

“MR. LEMON OF ORANGE”

131 Brendol and' ■ Fifl ■ Dorsay score an outstanding triumph in . “Mr. Lemon of Orange/’ a Fox Movietone all-talking ’ comedy which closes today at the Majestic Theatre. Brendol essays a “dual”' role in. this production and proves that he is able to enact a “straight’’ character part as well as his customary Swedish dialect performance. He is first and foremost the inoffensive “Mr. Lemon,” a toy salesman in ai big department store. Through no fault of his own he is discharged. Stumbling homeward, he walks right into tho middle of a battle between rival gangsters over a truckload •of liquor. And there the fun starts. Miss Dorsay is excellent in her characterisation of the night club singer, and William Collier, sen., does unusually fine work in the role of Brendel’s irascible brother-in-law. The supporting programme is excellent. DOUBLE BILL TOMORROW Two feature films, “Wide Open ’ and “Tho Road to Paradise,” which commence their session tomorrow, eomiue to make a good long programme of thrills and amusement. The first of these outstanding all-talking productions is a very exciting one. Loretta Young, who is the star of “Tho Road to "Paradise,” is called upon for a very difficult dual, role, which she plays astonishingly well. A gang of burglars decide to ransack her mansion, and their female accomplice is called upon to exercise her Hkenoss with the owner of the house to smooth out many situations which require very delicate handling. Coming after such a feast of thrills, the quieter fun of the second feature, “Wide Open,” with Edward Everett Horton, as tho star, js a welcome relaxation. To attempt even to hint at the plot might bo to spoil the picture, but it is worth seeing for its unexpected ending as well as or its humour Louise Fazenda plays opposite Horton. Tho box plans are < at Tattersall and Bayly’s.
