While acting as an armed escort to three employes •of a city firm carrying a hag containing £940 to a bank, 4 Plain-clothes Constable Charles Derham’, 29, was shot through the head when three armed bandits held them up in Flinders Lane. ' ' The robbers then grabbed the money and decamped in a car. . The streets were crowded at the time with late shoppers. The constable’s conditions is critical. ' '
