Nov. 20 Air Commodore Kingsford Smith was subjected to a thorough examination by an Air Force doctor, who expresses tho opinion that “Smithy's” illness on the AustraliaEnglanii flight was, due, to carbon monoxide fumes, deflected from his plane’s exhaust into the cockpit. ; HINKLER STILL.HELD (P V A by Elec. jijp'el. Despite the efforts of the British consul at' Fort Aleza the authorities in Ceara • state that, they will continue to hold; Sort Hinkler and his plane.' The , present explanation of his arrest is that a telegram from the Belem, officials to those at Ceara, introducing Mr Hinklen and asking - the courtesy of the State airfields for him was not delivered. The British Ambassador. has taken up the ease, and. he will reouest the Foreign Office at Rio do Jamero to permit Hinkler to continue his journoy. •.'/ . .
