ECONOMY SUGGESTED TO • THE commons.
third class rail to and FROAI LONDON. tU P-A. by Liec. Tel. Copyright) (Received Feb. 25, 9.10 p.m.) LONDON, Feb 24. In the Commons, Air: H. Crookshank (C.) moved to reduce the estimate covering vouchers to- enable members of the Commons to travel first class between their constituencies and London, suggesting that owing to the straitened finances third class ought to suffice, and it would be doubly efficacious in enabling Labor members to hear what the people were saying about the Government. Air. Jack Jones (Lab.) said the paltry economy talk would furnish Charles Chaplin, if present, with an idea for his next picture. Commoners should be allowed aeroplanes in urgent cases.Air. Booth by (C.) said that politicians who received all the kicks and no thanks were - entitled to comfortable travel. “Third class undergrounds might be all right,” ho said, “but between Aberdeen and Londjn the third class is the nearest approach. to Hell I know.” The amendment was negatived by 258 votes to 130.
