Air. R. Grimmett, ;f the chemistry branch of the .Department' f Agriculture, who has been on a. visit to Gisborne, left on his return to Wellington yesterday afternoon.
The Tutanekai, with the GovernorGeneral, .Sir .Charles Eergusson, and party, loft Chatham Islands at 3 p.m. on Monday., and is expected to arrive at Wellington this, morning.— Press Assn.
A Christchurch Press Assn. Telegram announces the death of _\fr. John Martin Mitchell, aged 54 years. He was both in London, and was the head of a leading furniture firm in Christchurch. Mr. Mitchell was a prominent Dominion bowler.—P.A
Captain E. J. Harvey, for over fifty years one of the best known master mariners in the New Zealand coastal trade, died on Monday evening at Ids home in Wellington. He commanded the paddle steamer Manawatu in the seventies and other vessels in hiss charge included the Queen of the Sovith’(lSS9-1919), and the Kennedy (later in 1919). Captain Harvey gave up seafaring life at the end of that year.—Press Assn.
Tile death has occurred at Matauiata of-. Mr. Edmond Mvlo«. aged 90 years. He was a native of Ireland, and arrived in New Zealand in .the sixties. After a period on the Thames goldfields, 'he joined the celebrated Forest Rangers under Von Teutpsky, and served with that officer during most of his campaign. He was present at the fighting at Ornkau against. Rewi. fought in Taranaki, and was at the engagement at Xgutuotimnnu. and took part in the campaign against To Kooti.—Special.
