OPERA HOUSE.
“'Font SONS” The screen, in its time, has 'seen file coining and going of 'many excellent produethms based on that ever popular theme, the. abiding Jove and sacrifices of a mother, any mother, all mothers. From among this distinguished galaxy, the Fox picture, “Four Sons”, stands out preeminently. and this picture the man agement of the Opera House hits secured for presentation, and screened for the first time last night. AVitb a low other select films of the last twelve months “Four Sons” has completely revolutionised the purely artistic side of the motion picture industry. In a brief foreword to the exhibitors. the director has intimated that his. picture is dedicated to the mothers of the world, the mother who gives joyfully and does not count the cost ; the mother who. in Closer grey years when Afars walked ihp. earth gave blindly and uncomprehending. There is nothing extraordinary about this story ; no enormous stagings catch the eye, no elegant (O.stumes delight the senses, no panorama of worldly beauty or wealth. But; put ‘‘Four Sons” besides some of these films that rest on such laurels, and this simple and true story of a mother, four sons and one git-1, carries till before it. The stoiy was written hy tho English writer, 1. A. IL Wylie, whereby the original material is vouchee], for. Hero is no dished up scenario, but a, fresh and unspoiled and very human story of really delightful people; and, if people, all peoples, would only take Lho lesson it tells to heart, understand the .psychology and tho emotion of tbat’Tittle family who. hist .as silently and with just as much agony as a few million other mothers gave everything to the Black Eagle, then one great question in; the world to-day would be for ever hushed. But “Four Sons” is entertainment, a screen drama of appeal and strength, with its brief laughs, its final Inyo story, not a .problem play. -Margaret Marin has won great praise hy her playing of Mother .Benue-, June,.Collver scarcely less, praise as the girl, while the four sons, are played by Francis X. l’ushman jr., James FTn.ll Charles Morten and Georg*. Meeker. “Four Sons” will lie shown again to-night.
