WINS RELAY RACE FOR, WAIROA.

A very successful meeting was held by the Wairoa Ladies’ Amateur Club at the North Clyde grounds oil Saturday. when there was an attendance of about 366. The principal attraction was the appearance of Miss Norma Wilson, who was -seen for the first time in action in Wairoa. During the afternoon M s.s W ilson took part in the 106 yards invitation race, tlie 126 yards ladies’ handicap, and the relay race, Wairoa v. Gisborne, the well-known sprinter running for Wairoa.

The 100 yards invitation race saw an excellent start, in wh elf. Miss Wilson soon overhauled the opposition, and Avon by three yards Jrom 51 iss Lean of Hastings, in 11 3-osec., Miss Stewart being third. In her beat the Hastings girl breasted the tape first in 11 3-osec. The 120 yards handicap pioved another easy victory tor Miss Y\ dson, who won in 14 J.-ssec. ' Three teams took part in the 440 vards relav. Gisborne A and 15 and 'Wairoa. One Gisborne team appeared to have the race well m banu, the last runner setting out with a lead of three to four yards from Miss Wilson.. The latter caught her opponent about half-way, but then 101 l back and in the concluding stages Won a well-judged race lor Wairoa by two feet, amid the intense merit of the crowd. During the afternoon several buys races were held/ a feature of which was the large fields which ranged from fifteen to fifty. . In the evening an enjoyable dance Was tendered the visitors, and durum- an interval the prizes "ere P'esentod. Mr. F. J.
