PREMIER ON UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM ABSORB MEN ON NEW RAILWAY WORKS (Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 24, A deputation brought up the question of unemployment before the Prime Minister to-day. In reply, Sir Joseph Ward said that the only effective way in which the Government could hop e to deal with it this year was by an extension of existing railways, absorbing 5000 to 10,000 of the unemployed and, to this end, the Government was straining every nerve.
