LOVER’S THREAT
TELLS GIRT. HE WILL SHOOT HIMSELF.
POLICE FTND HIDDEN REVOLVER.
(Press Association.) AUCKLAND, March 11. William Campbell, 2(3, a steel worker, was charged at the Police' Court with being in possession of an unregistered revolver. He pleaded guilty. There was an applioat’on by a young lady to have the accused hound over to keep the peace. The complainant alleged that Campbell had threatened to take her life. The police stated that Campbell and the young woman had been keeping company for nine months. Her parents objected, and the engagement was broken off. This evidently preyed on the accused’s mind. He accosted her on the road and said she was not gome to ruin other men as she had mined him, and that ho was going to shoot himself. The gif! ran into a house, and the police were sent for and the arrest followed. The police’ found the revolver hidden in a garage, hut Campbell had no ammunition. It was a case of a lovesick man.
The accused, m court, said he was worried, and lie did it to see if she would take him hack'again. Ho was convicted and ordered to pay costs.-., and to enter into n recognisance of £lO not to molest the girl further.
