Tlie Viceroy opened the new King Gborge Dock at Calcutta, providing at present six additional berths, and ultimately thirty additional berths. The cost, of the scheme up to the present i» eight and a-half crores of rupee*. The watar area of the dock is 24 per cent, greater than Gladstone Dock, Loverpool. The construction of the first quarter of the full scheme lias involved tlie displacement of 200,000,000 cubic fees of earth.
