GIRL GUIDES.

ENJOYABLE CONCERT AT KAITSRATAHL

Girl Guides ■ representing the Waipaoa. Ormond and Te Karaka troops ])rovided an excellent entertainment for a large audience at the Kaiteratahi Hall on Friday night. Thie performers gave an excellent display of guide work as well as or musical talent. The concert was opened by Mi'.') G. W. Humphreys, president of the district corps,. who gave a brief outline of the aims or the girl guide movement. Items were contributed as follows: • “Lullaby Land," Waipaoa Guides; Highland Fling, Jean Greggan; song in costume, Jean Scott, of Ormond; Cinderella song, Waipaoa* Brownies; recitations by Nellie Ryan and Rene Pitcher; duet, Waipaoa Guides*; drill by- Waipaoa troop; Maori melodies, Lieutenant Winiata- (Ormond troop); amlmlance drill, Waipaoa company; a song in costume ,“The Pirate,” Hilda -Stntham, of Ormond: “Who’ll Bdy My Lavender,” quartet by Wai paoa Guides ; action jsong, “When I Was a Young Girl,” by Waipaoa Brownies; a brief brownie playlet; a quartet, “Hawaiian,” by Ormond Guides; a duet by the Misses Lerinane; and a short dialogue by the Ormond Guides. The second half of the programme was given in a. camp-fire-setting, the first feature being a candle ceremony, which was followed by a song, “Come Where the Lake” : a recitation, “Our Flag,” by Miss M. Crosby of Waipaoa; a duet by the. Waipiio Guides; a recitation by Veronica Fitzgerald, (of Waipaoa.; “Hei Tonei Ra,” a.' Maori chorus: a chorus, “Boom to Alii Alii,” and a French chorus bv Ormond Guides; a recitation bv Miss Nancv Coates, of Te Karaka; a song, “The Maori Patrol,” and a birthday song, Te Karaka Guides. The programme concluded with an item entitled “Tajis” and the National Anthem. The accompaniments were nlaved bv Mesdnines Scott and Goldsmith, and Miss Crosswell.
