DIVE'D INTO RIVER TO ESCAPE CAPTOR^ (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Nov. 24. A Maori, Waka Wai Rangirei, who escaped from the Mental. Hospital on Thursday was observed sitting on the wharf at Helensville by .Constable Hunt, who asked the Maori to go to the police station with him. Tire Maori, jumped up, and dived into the river. The constable got into a punt, but before he could, reach the Maori he disappeared. His body was recovered yesterday afternoon.
