UN U S UAL EVIDENCE A T INQUIRY. COMPLAINTS AGAINST BRIGADE United Press Assu. by El. Tel. Oopyrisb (Australian Preas Assn.* (Received Nov. 15, 10.45 p.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 14. The Coroner has opened an inquiry into a lire in Cumberland on October 7, causing a quarter of a million damage. Robert Bain, paper mills engineer, gave evidence that the Eire Brigade was very slow in responding to' the alarm, and also failed to bring the lire engine right to the scene. Had this been done lie was of the opinion that a considerable section of machinery could have been sa.ved. Cross-examined, Bain said ho was threatened with arrest bv a constable when he gave information about a previous mill lire in 191 S. The inquiry was adjourned.
