TULAGA BAY SPORTS CLUB. (Special To The Times). A meeting of the Tolaga Bay Sports Club was held on Friday night when , there was a good attendance, presided over by Mr. G. P. Porta's.The nett result of the Easter Sports meeting showed a surplus of £6 Is fid after paying out £BO in prize money. It was decided to hold a sports meeting in the Domain on New Year’s Day. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of condolence to the relatives of the late Mr A. J. J. AlcCreedy. The following officers were appointed for the ensuing year. President—Mr. J. G. Hoare, vice-president's, Messrs Walsh Moore, Farrell, Paterson, Caldwell, Reeves, Fraser,' Callaghan, Morris, Judge, McEachern and Prince. General committee: Messrs Shaw, K. r. .and N. B. Smith, Caldwell, J. and P. Callaghan, Milne, Fraser, Littlewortli, 6. and A. Lincoln, Hurlstone, Sowry, McCreedy, Higgs, Moore, Burns, Prince, James, Laing, Findlay, and Neale. Judge of. ring events': W. Prince; judge of athletic events Messrs Farrell and : McNeil; starter of athletic events G. A. Moore; handicapper IT. Higgs; starter steward O. G. James; treasurer D. C. McLeod; secretary V. Hurlstone. A lengthy programme of horse, cycle and foot events was drawn up and approved of. The secretary was instructed to call tenders for the refreshment booth. Mr. J. P. Hoare donated the first and second prizes in the 220 yards handicap also a whip to the winner of the open leaping match. A medal for the competitor securing most points in the foot events was donated by Mr. N. B. Smith. Mr. C. Milne donated a fat lamb for the estimating competition.

SHEARING DELAYED BY RAIN

Heavy rain fell throughout the district during the week, which delayed shearing operations. The fall will prove beneficial to the farmers generally as the westerly winds experienced recently had the effect of hardening the ground and parching the feed. The grass and crops are now coming away well and prospects look bright for a good season. TOKOMARU BAY~"NOTES. SPORTS MEETING ON BOXING DAY. (Special To The Times)., TOKOMARU BAY, Nov. 3. On Friday last a public meeting was held to discuss the question pf holding an athletic sports meeting in the Bay during Christmas. Present: Messrs G. H. Puflett. chairman and convenor of meeting: I. G. Buchanan, F. Thompson, C. Ryland, J. J. Roberts, E. Thompson, J. Corbett, P. D. Moore, G. Tank ard, 11. Potae and AV. Pollock. The chairman stated there had been no sports meeting in the Bay, for four years, adding that every other place on the Coast- held its meeting and that it was up to local .residents to do something'in the matter. Owing to the inclemency 'of -the weather, the attendance was not as large as had been expected, but it was decided- it was large and representative -enough to come to a decision one way or p.nothet. Miss Barbara Aloore (Gisborne) is at present the guest of Mr and Airs A. L. AValker. , Mr A E. W. Braclmoi-e, Bank of New South Wales, Patea, has received notice of bis transfer to the Tokomaru Bay branch. He will arrive in the Bay towards the end pf the week.
