An unusual application, the first of its kind in the Dominion, has been tnade to the Arbitration Court by the Amalgamated'Engineers’ Federation. in connection with the hearing of, the general engineers’ and moulders’ dispute in, Christchurch next Tuesday.. . The employees have applied to the Minister of Labor to arrange for the employers’ assessor on the court, Mb. ■Ck T. Booth, to, temporarily vacate his seat in accordance with the Arbitration Act, which provides that whenthe permanent member of the court, is himself a party to the dispute,., and .is consequently unahlle to act as a member, another .• nominated member may act in his stead- , v ]■ . • The reason for the application is* that “Mr. .Booth, prior to ms appointment.. to the court., was - managing director of Booth..
