WHO WAS TO BLAME?
THE GENTLE ANNIE TRAMWAY AIR LYSNAR CORRECTS MR CLAYTON Twitted by the United and Labor candidates concerning the borough’s £175,000 loan, and other activities whilst- he was Alayor, Mr W. D. Lysnar replied, to his critics at Mangapapa last night.; Mr Lysnar claimed that the loan was the cheapest ever obtained for this town. Further, he declared that Mr Clayton should have been the last man in the; world to charge the speaker with responsibility; for the laying of the Gentle Annie tramway, , seeing r that AD Clayton was the seconder of the proposal that the- plans should be prepared for the work, whilst he (Mr Lysnar) was in England.! He had cabled a protest, but the line was laid down and had to be torn up again almost immediately. ‘A voice: “What did it cost?” “£18,000”, said Air Lysnar, who warmly said that Air Clayton was one of the prime movers in having the track laid and now had the audacity to accuse him in connection with the loss.
