WANTED PETROL TAN REFUND FARMER MAKES FALSE DECLARATION (Proas Association.; » CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 2. Said to be the first case of its kind in- the Dominion, a farmer at Pendarvea was fined £1 at Ashbur- . toil to-day on a charge of having made a false declaration for the purpose of obtaining a refund of petrol tax. He pleaded guilty. The police stated that the declaration was made for 926 gallons, .266 of which had been used in a prior period. Counsel explained that declarations had _ to be made in bi-monthly periods within seven days. The defendant was not aware that he whs doing' wrong.
