A sensation has been caused in sporting circles by the decision of the majority of the Court of Appeal to the effect that no betting tax is payable on bets made with the Holborn Stadium Club’s- totalisator or pari-mutuel system.. The Finance Act of 1926 specified bets with bookmakers.

Betting experts comment that the Government js unable to run a totalisator on the course with 10 per cent, commission when people can bet similarly within the club lor nothing.
