Lieutenant Min’d cell, who crashed in thei wilds of the Congo when returning to England in an Avro aeroplane, in which he flew in August from London, had- a terrible experience.
lie was crossing the mountains in North ICasanga when a terrific down current cf air swept the machine against the face of the mountain. Whipping the throttle full ■ open, Lieut. Murdoch held the plane' a few feet above the bush, and made for a kloof which was full of dead air. A tree cut a wing- and the machine turned turtle. His belt fPoke, and the tank cut his shins to the bone as he crawled through the flames. He dragged himself 30 miles to a native village. A missionary travelled all night to reach linn, and saved his life.
