' ELECTRICAL GEAR DESTROYED FIREMAN’S NARROW ESCAPE (Australian Press Aesn.» SYDNEY, Oct. 31. A fire in the City Council’s new power house at Bunncrong destroyed a large quantity of valuable switch gear belonging to Metropolitan Vickers, Ltd. A fireman named Hayden , was entrapped in a corner of, the store. He fought his way through the flames'and fell, exhaustted just as liis comrades managed to reach him and pull him to safety. GARAGE AND CARS DESTROYED (Press Association.) HOKITIKA; Oct. 31. A fire at 4.30 o’clock this morning gutted Toohey’s Motors' Ltd. garage, in the centre of. Revel 1 street,, ad-, joining the Dominion hotel.
