BUS SERVICE.
STOPPING PLACES IN BOROUGH
Suggestions for stopping places for ’buses .were contained in a report made to the Borough Council last evening by the Tramways Alanager, Mr. K. G. Ball. The report- stated: “There- are at present no clear stopping places ' for fnunicipal buses in Gladstone Road. On most comers they have to stand well out towards the centre of the street, owing to the Hocking of the corners by private vehicles 'parking. This practise is not desirable from a safety point of view, and also causes delay *n loading and unloading passengers. I would emphasise that in a town bus set vice running long hours to a, timetable, good loading facilities are- nece.'fsary to maintain efficiency. In order to meet this position and to bring Gisborne into line with other centres I would recommend that 60 feet from each street intersection on Gladstone Read, from Customs Street to Gte.y Street, he declared a municipal ’bus stop; the areas would he marked by suitable kerb signs and cars would be prohibited from parking. The above recommendation would improve tho position at present and further requirements could be met as the necessity arises.” The report- was adopted, and it was decided to put up signs for bus stops.
