Lord Londonderry, who has recently been appointed a member of the Government in the capacity of First Commissioner of Works, speaking at Darlington- of the relations between employer and employed, referred to the objects of the National Industrial Council, and hoped that they might, in future, lie relieved from those disastrous deadlocks which had hampered their activities, not only in this country, but in competition with the rest of the world. lie said that no doubt the Industrial Conference could produce a report which would definitely show the advantages to he gained by the scientific organisation of industry, and that the.v could look forward to an era of industrial prosperity and material success if the recommendations were carried out.
