O, Sweet, of Auckland, and formerly .of Gisborne, has been promoted to tho position of accountant of the Bank of New Zealand at Hamilton. Mr. H. H. Jamieson, accompanied by his sifter Miss 11. G. Jamieson, of Pategonia, South . America, are now visiting relatives in Hawke’s {Bay, and are expected to arrive in Gisborne shortly.. - The Borough’s' new representative on the Harbor Board (Mr. A. J. N'icol) ' took his .seat at • liis firstmeeting yesterday, wlion he was cordially welcomed by the chairman (Mr , G. 1 Sherratt) and members. ' Lady Alice Ngata, wife of Sir Apirana Ngata, has been appointed a, member of the ■ Hprouta Maori Council. under the Maori Council Act of, 1920. 'Lady Heni. Carroll also has been appointed an official member of the Maori Council for tlie- district of Takitimu.
