SEASON CLOSES! TO-NIGHT

The Opera House again drew a capacity house last evening, when the fifth performance of “The Arcadians” was presented to an enthusastic audience. The haunting music, ■atchy choruses, charming 'solos and smart and irresistibly humorous diaogue together with a high standard of histrcnic ability, were fully appreciated by the large audience. The production wiS greatly enhanced by die scenic lighting, effects and cos, turning, which were in keeping with the general excellence of the play. Miss M. Corson, making her fii'st appearance in amateur opera, scored a decided successs as the charming and vivacious Eileen Cnvanagh, who captivated her audience with her sweet voice and dejiglitful personality. Her solos “Bring Me a Rose” and “The Girl With a Brogue.” and her duets with Mr. W. Bignell were also well received. Her successful suitor, Mr Bignell, as Jack Meiidows was heard to advantage in “Fickle Fortune” and “The Only Girl Alive”, air. A. Zachariah, as James Js'mith, the London caterer _ who becomes an Arcadian .temporarily,- and is given the name of Simplicitas*. and Mr. T. Moffatt as Peter Doody, the ’melancholy jockej, share the comedy work, and both scored a great success. The role of Sombra,; a missionary from Arcadia, was capably filled by Mrs. J. Dyer. Possessing a delightfully modulated voice, she rendered delightfully “Come Back to Ai'cady,” und two other delightful solos which were warmly received. Miss G. Fanning filled the part of Ohrysaea with charm, and was heard to advantage in “1 Like London,” while Mtss Enid Hooper’s interpretation of the part of the gushing Mrs. James Smith was refreshing in its humor. The role of Bobby, a friend of Jack Meadows, was taken by Mr. J. Turbitt, who scored with his solo “Back Your Fancy.” Mr. A. J. N»col played the part of Sir George Paddock with much ability, and Mr. W. Hamilton Lrvine gave a fine portrayal of Father Time. In the minor parts the performers acquitted themselves with marked ability, and the success of the production was due' to them in no small measure The final performance of “The Arcadians”, will'be given to-night. ,
