The Evening Standard states that an extraordinary revelation has been made of smart society women offering themselves as models in Chelsea studios “for amusement” regular models being deprived of their livelfi hood owing tc the remarkable invasion of society amateurs, who even are willing to pay painters if they are allowed to pose. Furthermore, they are so keen at the novelty that they even promise to use their social influence to gain portrait commissions. Painters say they cannot afford to lose such chances. Moreover, rich girls come to the task with enthusiasm, whereas many professionals are tired and blase. The latter are now seeking jobs as mannequins.
