(Received Oct. 23, 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. An extraordinary whirlwind storm struck Mayfair, Piccadilly,, in the Soho regions, London, last night, and left a trail of wreckage,. - ••,*. A number of taxi-cabs .-were; blown over, and heavy omnibuses, rocked like ships in a storm. . ' Paopia were blown down. A policeman was hurled across Piccadilly. The streets were littered with fallen tiles, chimney pots and shop • signs. The Unemployment Exchange in Poland Street was unroofed, and the police closed the street with barricades. The wind is .described .as a tornado on a small scale, it scattered everything moveable. Amazing numbers of thick plate glass were smashed.
