WAIKATO HUNT RACES KAWINI WINS THE STEEPLES CAMBRIDGE/ Oct. 22, The Waikato Hunt Club’s meeting .was held here to-day before a good attendance. The track was heavy from overnight rains, and the conditions were made unpleasant by - a heavy shower which commenced just before the start of the first race and continued until after the third race. In the jumping events* falls were numerous. The chief event, the Hunt Cup Steeples, was won by Kawini, the event being somewhat marred by Trouble and Importer falling when in a commanding position. The gold cup was presented to Kawini’s owner, Mr H. A. Small field by the Hon J. A. Young, Minister of Health. The totalizator - handled £31,533 against £49,588 last year, a decrease of £lB,035. .
