Reinforcements; captured the pair, who were placed in a motor: car from which they escaped though wounded and kept up; -a. running .- light andshot dead a ] motorist who refused "t-o give them a! 1 lift..- ■ They took the car and eluded j motors’ and .motor cycles : carrying; police- A third suspect, meanwhile exchanged shots from' a house, but; surrendered to" superior forces. ; The . other affair occurred near Cflsablanca. when two merchants ‘ named Pomares and Juhiaga tried to outdistance four mounted Moorish bandits, whose rifle shots pierced their petrol tank and. stopped the car. Deciding that three prisoners were over many, the Moors coldbloodedly shot the cjmifeur. They made the merchants double-bank on a pony. A.• French official, Rossier,. pursued them in an' armoured car, but the Moors’ deadly "fire‘from the , scrub killed Rossier. While the fight was at its height Pomares crawled to his' rescuers. The: Moors escaped with Juhiaga, plus the loot.
