TAXI IN COLLISION
THREE OCCUPANTS INJURED. (Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 22, A taxi returning from the Rangiora races this evening, collided with another car at the intersection of Madras street and Edgeware road. The taxi was capsized, and rolled over twice, its passengers received injuries and were admitted to hospital. W. F. Collins. 23 Trafalgar street, sustained injuries to head, and shock : Mrs. Collins injuries to back, and shock; and W. A. English. 278 Ferry road, injuries to head, and shock. The hospital authorities report Mr. and Mrs. Collins are in a fairly seri ous condition. The taxi was badly smashed, but the occupants of the other car escaped injury. FATAL FALL DOWN HOTEL STAIRWAY. fPresa Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 22. Daniel Cosgrave, 47, a married laborer, fell down the stairway at the Empire hotel on Saturday and fractured his skull. Pickering, aged about 23, employed by the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Co-operative Association, diedl in the Napier Hospital early this morning, the result of injuries sustained in a motor accident a week or two ago. Deceased was proceeding from Hastings to Napier alone in a car a t night when the vehicle evidently skidded its lie was turning back from ,a closed bridge and overturned.'
