T Store Sheep.—There was a heavy entry of ■ store lambs,"which sold at a slight advance in sympathy with tile fat lamb, market. Ewes with good mouths were also a shade better than last week. The entry, though larger, was mostly local, hut Nelson and Marlborough sheep were represented. Best threequarterbred ewe lambs made 25s to 26s 3d, good threequsirter-bred ewe lambs 23s to 24s 6d, best lialf-lired ewe lambs to 26s 9d, ordinary bred ewe lambs 22s 6d to 245, extra good crossbred ewe lambs to '24k 7d, rape lambs 2s 9d to 4s, medium lambs 18s 7d to 22s 3d, inferior lamtk 16s 9d to 19s Id, cull lambs 13s 6d to 16s, best 2-th halibred ewes to 375, ordinary half bred ernes 28s to 31s, good 4 6 and 8-th half bred ewes 31 s 7d to 33's 9d, ordinary 4 6 and 8-th half-bred ewes 28s to 29s 3d, inferior 4 6 and 8-th half bred ewes 19s Gd to 235, failing mouthed half-bred evves 17s 3d to 18s Gd, good 4 6 and 8-th threequarter hired ewes 30s to,. 335, inferior 4 6 and 8-tli threequarter bred ewes 25s 3d to 26s 7d, 2-tli crossbred ewes 29s Gd to 30s Id, 4 6 and 8-tli crossbred ,ewes 25s Gd to 27s Gd, ’ failing mouth crossbred ewes 20s to’23s, extra good half-bred wethers to 29s 6d, best Half-bred wethers 26s to 28s 9d, ordinary halfbred wethers 23s to 255.
Fat LamlV.—The entry of fat lambs was the largest for some time numbering just on 4000 head. It was a keen sale at full export rates. Extra prime heavy lambs made to 35s 7d, prime heavy 30s to 33s Gd, medium weight 27s to 20s Gd, light 24s 6d to 275, store 22s to 245. Fat Sheep.—There' was a heavier entry, comprising twelve races compared with nine last week. The bulk were ewes. The sale was a sound one throughout at the best of last week’s prices. Exporters bought owes freely at more than the export schedule price. Extra prime wethers made to 39s 7d, prime wethers 32s to 355, medium wethers 29s Gd to 31s Gd, light wethers 25s 6d to 28s Gd, extra prime ewes to 35s 4d, prime ewes 24s to 28s Gd, medium ewes 20s to 23s Gd, light ewes 17s to 19s Gd, aged ewes 14s to 16s 6d.
Fat Cattle. —There was an average entry of 464 head and a good sale at the best of last week’s prices, hardening towards the conclusion. Medium-weight cows and heifers were firmer by 10s to 15s a head, with letter classes about the same. Best steer and heifer beef made to '■’2s per lOOlbs, prime 37s Gd to 41s, medium 35s to 375, heavy 35s to 37s Gd, good cow beef 34s to 375, medium 29s Gd to 335; and rough down to 255. Extra prime heavy steers made to £l9 12s Gd, prime heavy steers £l6 to £l7 15s, medium weight prime steers £l4 to £ls 15s, medium quality steers £l2 to £l3 l£b, light steers £8 to £ll, extra prime heifers to £l7 7s 6d, prime heifers £lO 15s to £l3, medium heifers £9 to £lO, light heifers £5 15s to £8 10s, extra prime cows to £l4 2s Gd, prime cows £lO 5s to £l2, medium cows to £lO, aged cowsi £4 10s to £7. Vealers.—There was a brisk sale for a better quality yarding. Twelve to 18-mths sorts made to £8 18s, vealers £3 10s to £6 15s, others 255« to £2 ss, small calves 5s to 15s. D'airy Cows. —There was a small entry, and very keen demand for cows' near profit. Extra good second to fourth calvers' made £l2 to £ls 15s, others £7 to £ll 10s, extra good heifers to £l4 10s, medium £6 to £lO 10s.
Storo Cattle. —Cows came forward, the hulk ofa small entry, only a few pens of steers being forward. Best cows made to £5 10s, medium cows £1 10s to £4, hulls £3 to £7 10s. Fat Pigs.—There was a heavy.entry. The sale was irregular with values scarcely up to last week’s. Choppers made £2 10s to £6, baconers £3 to £4 10s, extra heavy to £5 4s Gd, average per lb. 5d to G£d): porkers 32s to 53s 6d, average per 1!) Gd to 8.
Store Pigs.—There was an oversupply of store pigs. Prices showed considerable decline on late rates, and small and inferior sorts were very hard to quit. Small weaners made 3s to 6s, good weaners 7s to Bs, slips 7s to 10s, stores 10s to 18s 6d, large stores 20s to 295, extra large stores to 355. WESTFIELD YARDS. OX BEEF PRICES EASE. (Press Association.) AUCKLAND, April 18. At Westfield there was an average yarding of both ox and cow beef. The demand for the former was not so keen, and consequently values were easier. Cow and heifer beef, on the other hand, was firm at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 36s per 100-lbs., choice and prime 32s to 355, just, killahle 28s to 30s; prime young cow and heifer beef 26s to 30s, prime young cow and heifer bos' 26s to 28s. just killahle 23s to 255. Sheep.—There was scarcely an average yarding of sheep, which sold under very keen competition, values being slightly firmer. Extra heavy prime wethers made 36s 3d, heavy prime £1 12s Gd to £1 14s 6d, medium £1 9s to £1 11s, light and unfinished £1 6s Gd to £1 8s; extra heavy prime ewes £1 10s, heavy prime ewes £1 6s Gd to £1 Bs, 1 ilghtcr £l. 4s 6d to £1 6s; other ewes £1 2s to £1 3s 6d. Lambs. —Therfe was a good yarding of lambs, the majority of which wero killahle, and mott with very keen competition at slightly advanced rates. Heavy prime lambs ihade £1 9s, medium £1 is 6d to £1 7s, light £1 Is 6d to £1 3s. Calves were penned in average numbers, there being little or no change in values. Runners made £3 15s to £4 15s, heavy vealers £4 to £4 12s, medium £3 os 6(1 to £3 17s, light £2 10s to £3, rough 16s to £1 Bs, fresh dropped 6s to £1 4s. Pigs.—There was an average yarding, with values inclined to ease. Choppers made £2 10s to £3 15s, heavy baconers £4 4s to £4 9s, medium baconers £3 ,16s to £4, light baconers £3 5s to £3 10s, heavy porkers £2 15s to £3 4s, medium porkers £2 6s to £2 12s, light porkers £2 to,£3 ss.
