AUCKLAND, April 16 “Uneasy rests the head that wears the mitre” is a popular saying m England at the moment, but Bishop Kempthorne, of Polynesia, the largest diocese in the Church of England, bears uni very well. This morning, when he returned to Auckland on the Tofua, he had little to report concerning his vast diocese, which is 5000 miles long by, 3000 miles wide. Dr. Kempthorne has come to New Zealand to attend the General Synod of the Church of England, which opens in Wellington on Thursday. .. On September 27, 1'927,. Bishop Kempthorne left New Zealand on a tour of parts of his diocese, and srient a month in Tonga and a fortnight in Fiji, but after that he red; ted scarcely at nil. “I’ve been wandering about ever since,” said Dr, Kempthorne, “and later in the year I shall make even more extensive travels, when I. may undertake a voyage on one of tire naval cruisers, as I have done in previous years.”
