Edward Lawson, 30. and George Wallace, 31, were found guilty last month of stealing £lo from Paul Aurish at Paekagariki. Lawson lmu .31 previous convictions, and Wallace 38. Both were sentenced to two years' hard labor. SUNDAY TRADING IN HOTELS. (Press Association.) ASHBURTON, Feb. 13. At Methven to-day Ernest Frederick Ward, licensee of the Methven Hotel, was fined £7 10s and 10s costs for Sunday trading. Patrick Kellaber, barman, was also fined £/ 10s. Both had previously been convietetd. Four men found on the premises of two hotels in the township were fined £1 and costs 10s.

The conclusion C-f the most recent phase of litigation in the now celebrated Aforgan-AVright case, in which the parties were certain of the henefi'varies und'r the will of the late Air. E. G. AVrighL, and the Bank o ’ New Zealand and other beneficiaries, the Bank of New Zealand sought the final judgment for costs against Elva Ethel Roberts, one only of the parties in the recent action, in which the decision of the Court was in favor of the Bank. A'lr. . F. AVright, for the Bank, suggested £3OO as the amount that should he allowed, which would be below the usual scale. His Honor allowed £l5O without witness’ expenses.
