KAITI ESPLANADE.

FORMATION OF NEW ROAD. CONDITIONS SETTLED. The settlement of conditions on which the new Haiti Esplanade road is being 'constructed ivns detailed by the Borough Engineer (Mr A. Young) in the following report to the,.- Borough Council last evening. “That the Harbor Board finish the road at the present level, i.e., at a level of Dins, lower than the levels shown on the drawings and maintain same for a period of twelve- months from the date of the formal opening of the road to traffic; alter which period the Harbor Board will pay the Council the sum of £BOO. which is tho estimated cost of the- top course m water bound macadam, this to go towards the expense of paying the read in bitumen. On the expiration oi the maintenance period the Borough engineer will inspect the road, if the road has been satisfactorily maintained, the Council will take it over. If, however', the road has not been maintained in tho good order and condition as prescribed in the original agreement, the Harbor Board wd| require to remedy any detects, on completion of. which the ■Conned yaill take over the road, and the Boards liability will .then cease.” It was resolved to approve of the above conditions and in order to satisfy the Harbor Board, who arc meeting to-morrow morning that the Council will ratify this agreement.,.it was. -agreed to notify other members of tlie Council who were .in town and .obtain their consent to same.
