“IMPERIAL NATIONS"
STATUS OF DOMINIONS. ADELAIDE, Oct. 20. Mr. L. S. Amc?ry, speaking at -a civic reception, said he desired to obtain at first hand sufficient, information to enable him to place before the people of Britain practical schemes to assist Australia in the solving of her problems. He was convinced that nothing could be more effective in maintaining the unity of the Empire-than Ministers seeing the work in various parts of the Empire. No longer could there be any suggestion of respomiblity for the Empire resting on Britain. Every 1..-. minion was an Imperial nation with its own trust for the' maintenance of the greatest institution for <>nod m the world—the British Empire, Mr. Am cry hoped that the time would not be far distant when new methods of communication would make it possible for - the .Prime Minister of Britain to visit Australia. Britain hoped, by co-operation, to help Australia fill its great spaces with the best British stock, which was .the best in the world. That _was net a simple matter, as sometimes was assumed. He realised t ; bat an essential condition to increased population was the finding of markets. The. whole trend of opinion in Britain was in favor of trade within the Empire .He would he able' to return with something of a perspective of the great Imperial problem. He hoped, to be able to do something of real service in a common cause. — UP. A.
