FARMER'S DEATH
BODY FOUND IN SHALLOW CREEK.

Thomas Forsyth, 50, single, a retired farmer, was found dead in a creek near Whangarei Fall bridge yesterday, the head and shoulders only being submerged, in 13 inches of water. Deceased’s coat and two walking sticks were, nearby. The position suggested that he collapsed when stooping to obtain a drink from the stream. A gold watch chain, over £6 in cash, and a cheque for £l7 were in the pockets of the clothing. Though drowning was first supposed, marks on the neck, as though made by a rope were observed when the body was examined at the morgue. Forsyth had suffered from acute rheumatism for a number of years and had to rely on walking sticks when moving about. He was last seen alive on Monday, but no anxiety was felt, as it was thought he was visiting relatives. An inquest was opened this morning, (Tut was adjourned for a week in view of the complicated circumstances. - P.A. FOUND DYING ON GARAGE FLOOR. WELLINGTON, Dec. 1. Percival Wilton Curtis, employed by the Hutt Valley Power Board, was found by his wife at 7 a.m. today lying on the floor of a garage in a dying condition. A doctor was hurriedly summoned and treated him for poisoning, but the patient died at 9 o’clock. An inquest is being held. DEATH FROM CEREBRAL HAEMORRHAGE. . An inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Cecil McGregor Trewby, who passed away at Cook Hospital on Monday, was conducted before the Coroner. Mr. E. C. Levvey, S.M., yesterday. Dr. MeSweeney, house surgeon at Cook Hospital, said Trewby had been admitted to the hospital about 8 a.m. on Saturday last. , Death was clue to cerebral haemorrhage resulting from chronic nephritis. Wlter King said that Tor the past .eigh tmonths Trewby had been occupying a batch with him at Awapuni. He had not been well for the past fortnight? and on Saturday morning became unconscious, and Dr. Gunn had ordered him to be taken to the hospital. He once told witness that h chad been married and had lost his wife and two sons, and said he had been tutoring on sheep stations. He was 55 s years of age.. The Coroner returned a verdict in accordance with medical evidence.
