GISBORNE CLUB
A meeting of, the committee of the Amateur Athletic and Harrier Chib was held on Tuesday evening. Mr A. W. Mason presided over a good attendance of members.
Programmes were approved for evening runs as follows: October 21, 880yds. cycle handicap, 100yds. ladies’ handicap, 880yds. men’s handicap', high jump handicap; October 29, 1-J miles cycle handicap: 120yds. men’s handicap, 120yds. ladies 7.handicap. It was decided that Air W. Wareham be appointed to fill the vacancy on the committee, left open since the annual meeting. Air A. Swan was unanimously elected sole official- handienpper, it not being deemed necessary to appoint an assistant.
A letter was received from the town clerk, in reference to the meeting on October 22, convened to discuss the celebration of the Borough of Gisborne jubilee. It was decided to appoint delegates to attend the next meeting. The position of supervisor for the evening sports meetings has been undertaken by Air P. Fulton, who will have complete control of these functions. The following new members were elected: Airs. C. R.yan, Messrs. W. Wareham, G. McConnell, and A. Livingston. OPENING OF TRACK SEASON. The official opening of the amateur track season will take place at the Childers read reserve tonight, at 5.15 p.m., wlidn the Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club will run-off two sprint and one cyclo event. Good entries have been received for the opening events, and keen racing should he witnessed.
