TE PUIA SPORTS

A GOOD GATHERING

There was a big attendance of people from tile Coast at the annual sports meeting conducted by the Te Puia Club on; their grounds on Boxing Hay, and the visitors were rewarded with a splendid day's entertainment besides the outing under most propitious weather conditions. The programme comprised flat events, horse competitions of the most popular varieties', and a couple of swimming races, conducted at Te Puia lake. The Club’s takings for the day amounted to £79 10s, and of this amount £O4 remained as a credit balance after all payments had been made. Medals were donated to the Club by Messrs. E. R. Murphy. J. Reedy and H. McKay, and the Gisborne Motor Service Co. Tiie results are as follows: Obstacle Race: J. Woodward 1, P. Murphy 2. Schoolboys’ Race: J. Conole 1, 11. Potai 2. High Jump: J. Newton 1, L.
