PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT GOOD NAME. ASHBURTON, May 9. The question of railage of Southland lambs to Oanterlmfy to be slaughtered was discussed by the provincial executive' of the Farmers’ Union. It was stated that Southland was sending lambs to bo killed hero in order to gain up increased price on the strength of the reputation of “prime Canterbury.” The 'following resolution was carried unanimously: “That the Minister of Agriculture be appealed to protect the good name oi Canterbury Jamb by issuing regulations that all stock railed to tne Canterbury freezing works for purposes of freezing and export be branded with tho name of the province of origin.”—P.A.
