POLICE SEARCH RED EMBASSY IN BERLIN.
PROTEST BY RUSSIA. -
BERLIN, May 4. A - strong force of police searched the Russian Embassy building from roof to cellar on pretext that the Communist for whom a warrant was issued was hiding there. Russian officials assert that the search lasted four hours, and that the liberty of the leaders of the delegation, who are members of the diplomatic corps, was interfered with. Immediately after the search of the Russian Embassy Ambassador Krestinski called at the Foreign Office and energetically protested. Here Stresemann assured him the action of the police would be stopped immediately. The Embassy regards the search as an unparalleled violation of extra-territoriality.
Krestinski, before leaving for Moscow*, ordered the closing of the commercial delegates’ offices and the interruption of commercial activities for the time being.—A. and N.Z.C.-n.
