DISASTROUS SNOWSTORMS.
HEAVY LOSSES OF SHEEP FEARED. DUNEDIN. July 30. Recent snowstorms in Centra! Otago have, it is feared, caused very heavy mortality among sheep, and some run holders will he heavy losers. It is not possible as yet to estimate tlie amount of the loss, as snow lies to a depth of a foot or more, over a large area of the country. One farmer estimates that his loss will total £15,000, and the manager of a large property has 4000 sheep snowed in, and does net expect to rescue one ot that number.—P.A
