A PESSIMISTIC YANKEE. NEW YORK, July 25. Senator Johnston, one of the leaders of the Radical Republicans, an element in the Senate, and a probable candidate of the third party for the Presidency, who lias just returned from an extended tour of Europe, in a speech drawing a pessimistic picture of the conditions abroad, said: “No one in Europe attaches any lmpo to the Leagou of Nations or hope to the League of Nations or ions that the United States should join these bodies, in tho expectation that the United States yill thus lie drawn into full participation m European burdens.” lie added: “Europe waits for the United States’ monev.” —A. and X.Z.
